Half-Staff Michigan Flags – Heath M. Robinson Interment
Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011American Flags and Michigan Flags to fly at half-staff Friday, November 4th in the state of Michigan in honor of US Naval Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Heath M. Robinson.
According to the office of the governor:
Robinson, 34, of Petoskey, was among 30 service members killed on Aug. 6 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Their helicopter was shot down by enemy forces in Afghanistan’s Wardak province.
Robinson was assigned to SEAL Team THREE from March 6, 2000 to April 12, 2002. After completing one tour, he transferred to SEAL Team SEVEN from April 12, 2002 to April 2, 2004. He began a rigorous selection and training course with Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG). Nine months after beginning this training process, Senior Chief Robinson was selected to be a NSWDG Operator and completed numerous deployments.
Robinson was a highly decorated combat veteran with numerous awards including the Bronze Star Medal with Valor (4), including one for extraordinary heroism, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), Combat Action Ribbon (2), Presidential Unit Citation (2), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and numerous other personal and unit decorations.
