Half-Staff West Virginia Flags – Honoring Lafe Ward
West Virginia Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, May 4th in honor of form West Virginia Senator Lafe Ward.
According to the office of the governor:
Ward was elected to the West Virginia Senate in 1970, 1974, and 1978. He represented West Virginia’s Sixth Senatorial District, which, at the time, was comprised of Mingo, McDowell and Wayne counties. Ward served as Senate Majority Leader for the 61st, 62nd, 63rd and 64th Legislatures of West Virginia. During his tenure, he served on the Senate Committees on Banking and Insurance; Education; Energy; Industry and Mining; Finance; Military; and Transportation. Ward, an attorney, also served as Williamson City Attorney and Prosecuting Attorney of Mingo County.
