According to the office of the governor of Kentucky:
American Flags and Kentucky Flags to fly at half-staff until Friday, July 27th (beyond the national Presidential directive of this Wednesday, July 25th) in honor of the victims of the Aurora, CO shooting.

Half-Staff Colorado State Flags – Honoring Aurora, CO Victims

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

American Flags and Colorado State Flags to fly at half-staff beyond the Presidential directive of this Wednesday, July 25th and remain at half-staff until services for all the victims are completed.

According to the office of the governor:
“The President’s flag order expires today, though the Governor’s order to keep flags lowered (both the U.S. and state flags) is still in effect. We intend to keep flags lowered until the last funeral and/or memorial service is complete.”

Half-Staff Illinois State Flags – Honoring Michael Ristau

Half-Staff Michigan State Flags – Honoring Matthew Leach

American Flags and Michigan Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, July 11th in the state of Michigan in honor of US Army Staff Sgt. Matthew Leach.

According to the office of the governor:
Staff Sgt. Leach died June 26, in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 1/334th Regiment, 1st Brigade, 104th Training Division (Leader Training). Staff Sgt. Leach joined the Army in 2003 and served on active duty with two deployments to Iraq. He then joined the Army Reserve in 2008 and was on his first deployment to Afghanistan.

Half-Staff Maryland State Flags – Honoring Gene Mills III

American Flags and Maryland Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, July 11th in the state of Maryland in honor of USMC Lance Corporal Gene C. Mills III. Lance Corporal Mills died June 22nd in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Half-Staff Virginia State Flags – Honoring Stephen Prasnicki

American Flags and Virginia Flags to fly at half-staff Tuesday, July 10th at the Capitol complex in Virginia in honor of US Army First Lieutenant Stephen Prasnicki.

Flags are also authorized for display at half-staff in the County of Rockbridge, the City of Lexington and the City of Buena Vista.

Half-Staff Arkansas State Flags – Honoring Michael Strachota

American Flags and Arkansas Flags to fly at half-staff Friday, July 6th in the state of Arkansas in honor of US Army Sergeant Michael Strachota.

According to the office of the governor:
US Army Sergeant Michael J. Strachota died June 24, 2012 while serving his country in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Sgt. Strachota joined the Army in 2007 and had previously served a tour of duty in Iraq and was currently in Afghanistan serving his second tour of duty. He was assigned to the 96th Transport Company, 180th Transportation Battalion, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), out of Fort Hood, Texas.

Virginia Flags to fly at half-staff Wednesday, July 4th through Tuesday, July 10th at the Capitol complex in Virginia in honor of State Senator Yvonne Miller.

Flags are also authorized for display at half-staff in the City of Norfolk.

Half-Staff North Carolina Flags – Honoring NC Nat’l Guard Members

North Carolina State Flags to fly at half-staff Tuesday, July 3rd in honor of the N.C. National Guard members who died in the line of duty Sunday night when their plane crashed en route to South Dakota to assist in battling wildfires. The names of the victims have not yet been released to the public.

American Flags and Iowa Flags to fly at half-staff Friday, June 29th through Sunday, July 1st in the state of Iowa in honor of Lt. Col. Dennis Eilers.

According to the office of the governor:
Lt. Col. Dennis Eilers and his crew went missing when his plane was shot down in Laos in 1965. Eilers was listed as missing in action, until his status was changed to killed in action in 1977. In April of this year, after further investigation, officials positively identified the crash site when a tooth was found from a fellow crew member of Eilers’.
