Half-Staff West Virginia Flags – Honoring Thomas Myles

West Virginia Flags to fly at half-staff Monday, September 9th at the Capitol Complex and in Fayette County in honor of former WV Delegate Thomas Myles.

According to the office of the governor:
Myles was appointed to serve in the West Virginia House of Delegates as a representative of Fayette County in 1955. He was elected to that position in 1956 and was continuously elected to serve as a representative of Fayette County through 1972. Thomas Myles then served as House Majority Leader in the 53rd, 54th, 58th, 60th and 61st State Legislatures. During his time in the House he also served as a member of the committees on Banking and Insurance, Judiciary, Rules, Joint Committee on Government and Finance, and Joint Rules.

Half-Staff Missouri Flags – Honoring Jonathon Hostetter

American Flags and Missouri Flags to fly at half-staff Thursday, September 5th in the State of Missouri in honor of US Army Private First Class Jonathon Hostetter. Pfc Hostetter died while serving his country in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

American Flags and Missouri Flags in Sullivan County are to fly at half-staff Friday, September 6th through Wednesday, September 11th in honor of Pfc Hostetter.

Private First Class Hostetter was assigned to the 40th Engineer Company, 2nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Badge, Combat and Special Skill Badge Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge (Bar, Weapon: Rifle (Inscription: Rifle), Expert), and the Overseas Service Bar.

Half-Staff New York Flags – Honoring Michael Ollis

Ollis died as a result of injuries suffered while serving in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team at Fort Drum, NY.

Sgt. 1st Class Young was killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 738th Engineer Support Company, 307th Engineer Battalion 20th Engineer Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, NC. His service awards include: Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal.

Half-Staff Virginia Flags – Honoring George Bannar Jr.

American Flags and Virginia Flags to fly at half-staff Tuesday, September 3rd at the Capitol complex in Virginia in honor of US Army Master Sergeant George Bannar, Jr.

Flags are also authorized for display at half-staff in the County of Spotsylvania, the County of Orange, the town of Culpeper and in any other locality as deemed appropriate.

Master Sgt. George A. Bannar Jr. died of injuries he suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire in Afghanistan. He was deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Master Sgt. Bannar was assigned to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, NC and was serving on his fifth deployment.

US Army Master Sergeant George Bannar, Jr’s awards included: Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Expert Field Medical Badge, Air Assault Badge, Canadian Parachutist Badge, Royal Netherlands Army Parachutist Badge, Venezuelan Parachutist Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Military Free Fall Jumpmaster Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Special Forces Tab.

Maryland State Flags to fly at half-staff beginning Wednesday, August 28th through the date of interment (which is still to be determined) in honor of Police Officer First Class Jason Schneider. Tactical Officer Schneider was shot this morning while serving a warrant. He was a 13 year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department.
