North Carolina flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, July 27th in honor of Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. According to the North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs, 149,754 North Carolina citizens served in Korea between 1950 and 1953. It is estimated that 69,669 of these veterans are still living in North Carolina today.

Officer Vanbuskirk was a member of the Search and Rescue Unit of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. Officer Vanbuskirk died in the line of duty while attempting to rescue a stranded hiker.

American Flags and Kentucky Flags to fly at half-staff Saturday, July 27th in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in honor of US Army Staff Sgt. Sonny Zimmerman. Staff Sgt. Zimmerman died of wounds suffered when his vehicle was attacked by a rocket-propelled grenade. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, KY.

Pennsylvania Flags to fly at half-staff Thursday, July 25th through Friday, July 26th at the Capitol Complex and in Lebanon County in honor of firefighter Bruce Sensenig. Firefighter Sensenig, of the Quentin Volunteer Fire Company, was killed in the line of duty in an auto accident while responding to an emergency call.

According to the office of the governor:
William Gray III was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1978. He was the first African-American to serve as chairman of the House Budget Committee and the Majority Whip. Gray served in Congress until his resignation in 1991, when he was named president of the United Negro College Fund. He held that post until 2004.

Garver died June 23rd of wounds sustained while serving in Afghanistan. Sgt. Garver was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, KY.
