Adopted in 1992, the current flag of Brazil is made up of a large yellow diamond centered on a green background. The green and yellow symbolize Brazil’s ample lush forests and rich gold reserves. A blue sphere featuring 27 stars, believed to represent the constellations visible in the sky over Rio de Janeiro, lies at the center of the yellow diamond. Each star denotes a specific Brazilian state. Across the orb is a banner with the words “Ordem e Progresso†which means “Order and Progress.†|
