The Burkina Faso flag, adopted in 1984 after a coup, is divided in half horizontally with red on top of green below. Placed in the center where the red and green meet is a yellow star whose five points are the guiding light for the revolution. The red and green, common pan-African colors, symbolize blood shed during the revolution and agricultural abundance, respectively. |
