Adopted in 1992, the top half and bottom fourth of Cape Verde’s flag is made up of 2 horizontal blue stripes. The remaining fourth consists of three horizontal red and white stripes of equal size, with red in the middle. Centered on the red and white stripes but to the left of center of the flag is a circle of ten five-pointed yellow stars symbolizing the nation’s ten islands. The blue field represents the vastness of the sea and sky. |
